A picturesque church in Wilczyce, Poland
You certainly do not expect to find such a jewel in such a small town like Wilczyce, near Sandomierz in Poland. And yet there it is, amazingly beautiful.
Wilczyce, Poland - church The church, or its ancestor, dates back to the 13th century. In fact, where the present church stands there had earlier been two churches. The 13th century wooden one was disassembled, and another wooden one was built in the 17th century in the same place.

A piggy you can't miss in Florence, Italy
When in Florence, everybody goes to see the famous Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge) on the River Arno, but not everyone knows about a statue of a wild boar, tenderly called Il Porcellino, which means “piggy”. The statue is in fact a small fountain and is situated quite close to the bridge, in Mercato Nuovo (the Straw Market).
As far as I know, it is a copy of a copy - Pietro Tacca made one in the 17th century, basing it on some Greek statue.

An amazing costruction of glass and steel in Naples, Italy
The Umberto I Gallery was constructed in the 19th century. You can find it in Naples, Italy and I must say it impressed us very much. It is a strange feeling to find yourself in a street and inside a building, and both of these in the same time. All this is due to the glass and steel dome that joins the passages between buildings.
The floor is made of marble.

An Orthodox church in Svidnik, Slovakia
While travelling we quite often happen to pass by that Orthodox church in Svidnik, Slovakia. It’s Svidnik’s landmark (at least that’s what we, passers by, assume;-) and we always look forward to seeing it again. One day we have to stop there and see what it looks like inside.

Bacio! Bacio! A very special rock near Capri, Italy
When we came to Capri, we were offered a special ride in a boat around Capri (the so-called giro isola). It was very exciting, as the views that passed by with the light speed were breathtaking, and because the roar of the motor made you almost deaf;-) I remember some of the views, some strangely cut rocks, some grand houses on the cliffs, a lighthouse and the such,

Beware of Bormustra in Eger, Hungary
Have you ever heard the word Bormustra? It’s in Hungarian and it’s connected with the Wine Competition that takes place in Eger in the spring or summer. It lasts a few days.
Bormustra - Wine Competition - in Eger, Hungary Unless you like huge crowds, make sure you’re not planning your summer trip to Eger in those days. Never mind the crowds though. What really counts is the problem you’ll inevitably have with finding accommodation.

Graffiti in ancient Pompeii, Italy
Graffiti, which seems to be typical of our times, can be found even in ancient cities, like Pompeii. Here are three great (and sweet, I think) examples of graffiti, probably made by Pompeian children (otherwise it must have been a very unskilled so-called artist;-) The first, I believe, was supposed to represent a boat of some sort.

Magnolias in Bolestraszyce, Poland
When you come to the arboretum in Bolestraszyce it’s obvious that you are here to admire the nature (arranged by a human hand a bit, of course;-) You are virtually surrounded by it and it’s a good idea to go there in May. Why in May and not in any other “green” month? The answer is simple: blooming magnolias. Bolestraszyce keepers boast that they have some two hundred magnolias in the area.

Mare Verticale in Venice, Italy
One day we decided to experience the green side of Venice. We learnt that there are two quite big parks in Venice - Parco delle Rimembranze and Giardini Pubblici. While walking along the latter one we encountered a strange sight. A long, vertical structure in a shape of a boat was rising before our eyes right, as it seemed, from the water of the lagoon. What on earth was it?

Medieval streets in Assisi, Italy
The main and the most obvious goal when going to Assisi is to visit the Basilica of St. Francis. The city, however, has something more to offer than that.
